Because the opioid crisis has grabbed national headlines, studies examining the crisis and possible approaches to it have entered the public debate.
One of the claims put forward by the interests that believe addiction is a purely physical problem requiring a physical treatment such as Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is that it is the only approach to treating the opioid crisis that is backed by science. However, in the real world such scientific results are rarely, if ever, sharply black and white. See Study Reliability for additional information.
The Research section of this site is designed to highlight and critically examine drug addiction studies. For information on how to contribute research or to suggest studies that should be featured, please contact us.
