Summary and Analysis
Sober since 2015, in this article Ms. Kaye outlines her amazing journey to sobriety and her new life. In her words, “One moment I was drinking champagne at trendy restaurants and bar and bat mitzvahs – partying and doing lines in the bathroom of after hours clubs in Hollywood. I woke up one morning with a gash over my eye, blood streaming down my face.” For her, it required “two stints in rehab, two months in sober living and a seven day coke run, during which I saw a man get shot one night when I was on my 3rd trip downtown to score that day” to make the decision that led her to sustained recovery.
She describes herself as a sober mother of 3 children and 2 dogs: a 3rd generation Californian, who came of age during the ’80s. Today she is a producer for the REEL Recovery Film Festival & Symposium and has worked with Writers In Treatment for over three years. Her story is inspiring and a bright spot in a landscape too littered with tragedy.
