Abstract

CSDAP supports Recovery Month and International Recovery Day, September 30th. These are annual observances dedicated to globally promoting all pathways to recovery from addiction and to educate the public about the value of recovery. We commend groups like Faces & Voices of Recovery (FAVOR) that put a lot of effort into promoting and celebrating these events.

Founded in 2019, International Recovery Day, September 30th, is an annual observance dedicated to globally promoting all pathways to recovery from addiction and to educate the public and policymakers about the value of recovery. By bridging geographic barriers, International Recovery Day offers a way for all to celebrate recovery around the globe on one day. International Recovery Day is celebrated during Recovery Month as an opportunity to tell the world that prevention works, that treatment is effective and that people can, and do, recover from addiction.

CSDAP supports this initiative and the work done by groups like Faces & Voices of Recovery to promote and celebrate it. FAVOR is a national advocacy organization active in the recovery community since 2001. FAVOR has assumed responsibility of International Recovery Day – formerly International Recovery Day, Inc. – and all its assets. It will now lead and manage the continuation of this incredible event and its movement into the future. For more details on this CLICK HERE.

International Recovery Day’s website – internationalrecoveryday.org – also provides space for people across the world to launch virtual fireworks on September 30th, to symbolize the hope and help that is offered through different recovery pathways and allow people to celebrate their own recovery – in a way that’s unique to them – and yet still a small part of a greater whole.

FAVOR is also organizing and supporting recovery events around the country. CLICK HERE to view their calendar of events.
